Use "How long will it run?" when you already own a power station and want to know how long it will last with a specific set of devices — useful for planning a camping trip, a work session, or how far into a blackout your battery will get you.

What's the difference between a portable power station and a generator?
A traditional generator burns fuel (gasoline, propane, diesel) to produce electricity, requires outdoor ventilation because of exhaust fumes, and needs refueling. A portable power station stores electricity in a battery, produces no fumes, runs silently, and is recharged rather than refueled — from a wall outlet, a car port, or solar panels — making it safe to use indoors.
Can I run a portable power station while it charges?
Most modern units support "pass-through" charging, letting you use connected devices while the battery itself recharges — check your specific unit's manual, as this can affect charging speed or, on some older/budget models, isn't supported at all.
How is a portable power station different from a UPS?
A UPS (uninterruptible power supply) is designed to instantly switch over during a power cut to protect sensitive equipment (like a computer) for a short bridge period, usually minutes. A portable power station is designed for sustained, planned use over hours, and is manually connected rather than wired permanently into your electrical system — though some higher-end units also offer UPS-style automatic switchover.
Does altitude or climate affect a portable power station's performance?
Lithium batteries generally perform best at moderate temperatures; very hot or very cold conditions can temporarily reduce usable capacity and are best avoided for both charging and storage where possible. Altitude itself has minimal direct effect on battery performance.
